Program overview
Learning activities at MOAO
MOAO students are required to spend an average of 26 hours per week on learning activities.
10 hours per week
MiaPrep Curriculum
Your child will go through a daily Learning Path on the MiaPrep curriculum filled with instructional videos, practice, and assessments.
8 hours per week
Workbook activities
MiaPrep courses are accompanied by workbooks where your child will complete guided notes, practice activities, and creative projects.
4 hours per week
Checkpoint assignments
Every course has several free-response assignments that receive personalized grading and feedback from teachers.
4 hours per week
Teacher office hours
Each course has office hours where teachers provide support to your child as needed. Office hours are optional for students who are meeting their 26 hour per week learning requirements.
Getting a diploma
Graduation requirements
Ohio requirements for graduating and earning a high school diploma.
Required course credits
- English language arts: 4 credits
- Health: 1/2 credit
- Mathematics: 4 credits
- Physical education: 1/2 credit
- Science: 3 credits
- Social studies: 3 credits
- Elective: 5 credits
Demonstrating competency
Students must demonstrate competency in foundational areas of English language arts and math or through alternative demonstrations such as ACT or SAT scores, College Credit Plus, career-focused activities, or military enlistment.
Readiness seals
Students must show that they are ready for their post-high school path by earning two diploma seals. Learn more about diploma seals here.

At MOAO, students learn on their own schedule, with the flexibility to:
- Revisit and repeat material as many times as needed before moving on
- Moving quickly through material that they are familiar with
- Take breaks when they need them, then pick up right where they left off
- Choose which days of the week to complete their coursework
- Work at whatever time of day suits them best
